Gloucestershirefarmer Rob Harrison has been elected as the new chairman of the NFU nationaldairy board.
MrHarrison, who farms 430 acres near Moreton-in-Marsh with his wife Emma,succeeds Mansel Raymond. He is a previous chairman of the next generation dairyboard.
MichaelOakes from Worcestershire was elected as the boards new vice chairmanreplacing Mr Harrison.
Id like to thank my predecessor Mansel Raymond,whose work on the voluntary code has put the dairy industry in a much strongerposition for the future, and all the outgoing board members, said Mr Harrison.
Im now looking forward to the challenge ahead ofme as the boards new chairman.
There are pressing issues facing the dairy industry, including therecent retail milk price cuts and price war. I will be seeking urgent meetingswith processors in the coming weeks to look for ways of addressing thesechallenges as a supply chain.
Our industry faces an exciting future of growth andmy focus will be ensuring that our members get every possible opportunity inthat growing market.
Changes to the NFU dairy board 2014-2016include new South East regional representative Nigel Stacey as well as theappointments of JamesMiller, Mark Oliver, David Brookes and Janette Prince.
