ADAS/HGCA Harvest report 17-7-14

By the 15 July, just under 1% of the GB combinable crop area had been harvested, mostly in Southern England. Harvest was about 5% complete for both winter barley and winter oilseed rape. Early barley yields are above average whilst the first winter oilseed rape yields are close to average, although this information is based on a very small sample size.

The weather over the period 9-15 July was mostly dry, especially across the Western side of the country.  In the East there were some particularly heavy, localised downpours over the weekend, which reduced harvesting opportunities.  However, in most areas harvest was possible on 5-7 days, with progress being limited by the crop maturity rather than combine capacity.

Harvest started over the weekend of 4-6 July, with occasional crops of winter barley and oilseed rape harvested on the lighter land.

It is too early for reliable quality data.
