Early withdrawal of ioxynil herbicides

The Chemicals Regulation Directorate (CRD) has recently confirmed that thewithdrawal of ioxynil containing herbicides will now be a year earlier thanpreviously communicated, says Bayer CropScience.

This meansthat distributors have to sell out stocks of the widely used herbicides OxytrilCM (bromoxynil + ioxynil) and Totril (ioxynil) by 31st August 2015and growers have to use up stocks by 31st August 2016. The reasonfor the earlier withdrawal is in order to conform to the European regulatorytimetable.

Oxytril CMhas been widely used for broad-leaved weed control in cereal crops and Totrilhas been the main post-emergence herbicide for control of broadleaved weeds inonions, leeks, shallots and garlic.
