An enjoyable classic tractor drive through the Welsh countryside will help Carmarthenshire’s fund-raising efforts as feature county for next year’s Royal Welsh Show.

The initiative by Georgina Cornock-Evans, the 2017 show’s RWAS Lady Ambassador, brought more than 50 tractor enthusiasts from throughout Carmarthenshire and across Pembrokeshire to Pumsaint Hall, where they lined up for the 45-mile run supported by McCormick.

“I was overwhelmed with the support and the turnout, and I’m very grateful to all who have donated and sponsored the event, which should raise around £1300 for the RWAS development fund,” says Georgina.

“We set off from Pumsaint at 10am in glorious sunshine and enjoyed the scenic route prepared by local enthusiast Ray Nicholls, which took us up through Cwrt Y Cadno, then the Towy Bridge and up to the high ground at Llyn Brianne, where we had a break for refreshments while enjoying the fantastic view.”

The colourful convoy, which returned to Pumsaint through the Towy Bridge, Cilycwm and Caio to finish at 4pm, was mostly made up of classic and vintage tractors but a 120hp McCormick X6.430 represented modern tractor performance and technology – and the comfort of a spacious, air conditioned cab.

When not engaged in her duties as RWAS Lady Ambassador up to the show at Llanelwedd on July 24-27 next year, Georgina works alongside her husband Arwel Evans as a director of the family-owned McCormick tractor dealership, Arwel’s Agri Services, Harford near Llanwrda in Carmarthenshire, and as Mum to Trystan (6) and Lynwen (4), who also enjoyed the tractor run.
