Five scientists from the Moredun Research Institute will be at Harper Adams University College on Tuesday 8th January to provide vets, farmers and SQPs with practical disease control briefings on some of the key animal health issues facing the UK sheep and cattle sectors.

“Many of the vaccines, diagnostic tests and disease control strategies employed on UK livestock farms were developed at Moredun. Its scientists have developed some brilliant animations to explain the features of some of our most problematic endemic diseases and this is a great opportunity to gain a better understanding of these key industry challenges,” said event organiser Kate Phillips from Harper Adams.

The knowledge transfer day is supported by MSD Animal Health and will include a mix of presentations, practical demonstrations and videos covering control of diseases such as sheep scab, liver fluke, toxoplasma and neospora abortion, and cryptosporidiosis in calves.

The event is likely to attract CPD points for SQPs and is being held between 10am and 3.30pm at the University’s Regional Food Academy.
