The Bayer Pollen BeetlePredictor is now showing good migration conditions over much of the southernhalf of England, says the company.
Over the last ten days most parts of the country haveexperienced periods of typical spring temperature in the region of 15oC.As a result Bayer Pollen Beetle Predictor is showing that migration has startedin the vicinity of virtually all 91 met stations. Only Perth and Haverfordwesthave yet to see suitable conditions.
Currently good migration conditions prevail acrossmuch of the southern half of the country as shown on the new migration mapwith most met stations now yellow south of a line from the river Mersey to theWash. When your nearest met station has been yellow for three consecutive days(some already have been) or red for just one day, its the prompt to get intocrops and assess average numbers of beetles per plant against thresholds.
Growers should use this tool until their nearest metstation on the percent migration map turns red (indicating migrationcomplete) or until their crops begin flowering in earnest i.e. GS62 when 75% ofthe crop has 20% flowers open on main shoot.
