Itstime to put a fresh perspective on the essential role pesticides play insafeguarding our food supply, protecting the environment and improving our wayof life. Thats the message from the Crop Protection Association (CPA) in a newleaflet aimed at providing the public with an introduction to crop protection -explaining the benefits of pesticides and why theyre safe for consumers andthe environment.

Theresa great deal of debate and misunderstanding about the use of pesticides in foodproduction and in our environment more widely, and we hope this leaflet willhelp explain why pesticides are used, what their benefits are and why theyresafe for consumers and the environment.
Farmerswill need to use every available technology including pesticides to helpmeet the challenge of feeding a global population set to reach 9.5 billion by2050 while protecting the natural environment and conserving precious naturalresources.
Ihope our new leaflet reaches as wide an audience as possible. From the parentconcerned about pesticide residues in food, to the primary school teachergiving a lesson on agriculture, or the farmer welcoming the public throughtheir gates, we hope this leaflet will be a valuable and informative resource.
