Arable Event returns with extensive cereal trial plots

The Arable Event, one of the largest farming events in the Midlands, is returning to Woodlands Farm in Staffordshire this summer with extensive trial plots, expert speakers, and machinery demonstrations to entertain visitors.

Delegates at the event will receive hands-on experience of the latest farm machinery.

Organised by Wynnstay and GrainLink, the one-day event attracted more than 1,500 delegates last year, offering visitors the opportunity to exchange knowledge, view sizable trial plantings, and get hands-on experience of the latest farm machinery.

Taking place on 7th June, this year’s event is once again hosted at Woodlands Farm, part of Bradford Estates, situated just outside Weston-under-Lizard on the Shropshire/Staffordshire border.

Event organiser Kelly Dolphin urged arable farmers and those involved in the agriculture industry to visit the free event, which is now in its ninth year.

“We have extensive cereal trial plots, expert speakers, the chance to see the latest machinery and the opportunity to collect BASIS and NroSO points. Every guest gets a free goody bag, refreshments and programme, so you won’t need to break the bank to attend.

“We’re very grateful to Bradford Estates for their commitment to helping us host the Arable Event, and we look forward to seeing as many people there as possible.”

Other than trial plot tours and machinery displays, the event will feature a free moisture meter clinic run by Sinar Technology, an open air speakers’ tent and trade stands from a range of agricultural businesses. Trial plots will include winter and spring cereals and cover crops grown by Syngenta and Wynnstay on Bradford Estates.

With a vision to create a market leading agribusiness focusing on sustainable farming, Bradford Estates aspires to become the largest regenerative farm in the West Midlands. The ultimate goal is to establish a centre of farming excellence, to help advance the understanding of sustainable farming systems and practices.

Bradford Farming has a mixture of Grade 2 and 3 medium/heavy loam soils, with the Arable Event to be held on light sandy soils with a little body.

The event will be held from 9am to 5pm on 7th June, with free fast-track entry on offer that includes a free prize draw.
