Live demos of upgraded farm management system at Cereals

Cereals visitors can learn about the Omnia digital farm management system, book into an SFI advice clinic and the company’s agronomy training programme.

Hutchinsons stand at Cereals 2024
Hutchinsons will be at Cereals Event 2025 on stand 231.

Launched at Cereals last year, the latest Omnia upgrade brings a host of exciting developments, including fully paperless record-keeping, smarter work management tools, and seamless integration – all designed to set a new standard for farm management technology in the UK, Hutchinsons explains.

Making the move is easier than you think

A team of Omnia digital specialists will be on the stand, ready to guide growers through the simple, step-by-step process of switching.

With the option of on-demand training videos or a follow-up on-farm visit, growers can make the transition at their own pace, with as much support as they need.

“Omnia has been designed with ease-of-use in mind,” said Hutchinsons head of marketing, Nick Rainsley. “You don’t need to overhaul your entire operation overnight – just come along, have a conversation, and see how easily you can start benefiting.

“Our aim is to make the switch as easy as possible, so you can focus on what matters most – running your farm efficiently.”

Environmental Advice Clinic – Book now

In light of the recent changes to the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI), Hutchinsons is also offering growers the chance to speak directly with our Environmental Services team.

Its experts will be on hand across the two days of Cereals to help you understand the recent changes, explore short-term actions you can take, and plan for longer-term environmental strategy.

Encouraging new entrants into agronomy

Interested in a career in agronomy?

Talk to Hutchinsons at Cereals about the Hutchinsons Foundation, a three-year training programme focussed primarily on giving new entrants a route into agronomy.

It also supports those wanting to pursue a career within the company’s other specialist services and technical roles.

“Since Hutchinsons started out as primarily a field walking service 87 years ago, the role of the agronomist has evolved massively and now takes much more of a full strategic farm management approach,” says the company’s head of training, Kelly Earl.

But while the agronomist’s role and use of technology had changed significantly, people remained at the heart of the business, she added.

“Agronomy is still a relationship-driven career, so it’s all about finding the right people to build relationships with farmers and help them manage their businesses more effectively over the long-term.”

There are two main routes into the Foundation; either directly from university, or those who have worked in different roles and are looking to re-train or specialise.

The programme allows individuals to gain their professional qualifications, and all the technical and “softer” skills training needed to become a successful agronomist.

It is a fully employed role, with a good percentage of time out with colleagues, shadowing, and learning from them.

Hutchinsons also offers a year-long student placement programme.

To find out more about the career opportunities across Hutchinsons, including agronomy, delivery, warehouse, administration, finance, marketing, commercial roles, and specialist services teams, go to www.hlhltd.co.uk/about-us/careers or email kelly.earl@hlhltd.co.uk.

If you are unable to make it to Cereals but would like to talk to Hutchinsons about any of these opportunities, there is a chance to do so by visiting one of many regional trials centre open days this summer.
