Shropshire: Farm shop destroyed in overnight fire
28th May 2025
A Shropshire farm shop has been destroyed in an overnight fire.
The Wenlock Edge Farm shop located in East Wall, near Much Wenlock, as well as its meat packaging units, were caught on fire, but no people have been injured.
A spokesperson for the fire station said: “On arrival the whole building was on fire, so we were put into action from the start.
“It was about a couple of hours before we could get it under control.”
Officers from Church Stretton Fire Station were assisted by crews from Much Wenlock Fire Station, Craven Arms Fire Station, Bridgnorth Fire Station, as well as Shrewsbury Fire Station and Telford Central Fire Station.
Four jets were used to extinguish the blaze, and 24 BA sets were rotated throughout the incident. Crews remained at the scene through most of the day, damping down any remaining hot spots.
The officers said that a fire investigation will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of ignition.
‘Nothing was salvageable’
The owners of the shop have issued a statement which reads: ‘We are heartbroken to share that a serious fire has occurred at Wenlock Edge Farm.
‘As a result, we are currently unable to take any new orders. If you have already placed an order, we will be in touch with you directly.
‘Thank you for your understanding and support during this difficult time.’
They added that due to the intensity of the flames, nothing was salvageable and they currently have no business premises.
