Farmer creates life-size Christmas tractor and Land Rover for charity

Andrew Wilkinson’s annual light up tractor is a popular feature and has raised thousands for charity over the years.

Yorkshire farmer Andrew Wilkinson is aiming to raise thousands of pounds for charity this Christmas, having made a full-size John Deere tractor and Land Rover Defender out of Christmas lights.

Andrew has made a Christmas tractor, using thousands of lights, for the past four years, raising money for Cancer Research in honour of his father who passed away in 2006. So far, not including this year’s funds, he has raised around £7,500.

This year, with the world in greater need of festive cheer than ever, Andrew decided to add a Land Rover to this impressive feature. The tractor has also been given a face-lift this year – having been previously based on a John Deere 6820, Andrew now introduces the 6155.

He is hoping to raise another £4,000 this year.

The light up tractor is a popular feature each Christmas, attracting large numbers of people coming to admire it, particularly families – and this year has been no different.

Andrew is also running a competition and raffle as a way of giving back to the people who donate to the cause.

If you can guess how many lights are on the Land Rover Defender you could win £250 in cash or a voucher, donated by JAS Landrover.

This year has seen a range of local dealers and businesses getting involved, donating various prizes to the raffle including battery powered John Deere gator, a new lawn mower, Amazon vouchers, clothing and socket sets, as well as hampers and hair and beauty vouchers.
