With Covid-19 forcing many of us back into our homes, making the prospect of Christmas shopping more challenging than ever, online gift shop owner, Sally Day, has launched new gift boxes designed for farmers and countryside enthusiasts.

Growing up around farming and rural life, Sally has a passion for the countryside that inspires her unique selection of gifts, cards and wrapping paper for fellow countryside lovers. Her latest addition, a range of themed gift boxes, has been created to make shopping easier during the pandemic, and it is already proving popular.

You can select either a themed gift box, or create your own customised version from a range of products including luxury fudge, pheasant mugs and socks, a Labrador breakfast set, or a range of illustrated notebooks, to name just a few examples.

Other inspired gift ideas from Sally Day Stationery and Gifts include farming-themed tree decorations such as tractor, cow and pheasant baubles, which are among her best sellers.

By far her most popular range, however, is the glass collection, which includes gin glasses, whisky tumblers, highball and wine glasses, decanters and bowls – all with a countryside or farming theme. For those buying the bowls, there is also an option to add luxury fudge with pheasant, hare or hedgehog varieties.

Sally launched her business, Sally Day Stationery and Gifts, three years ago, having worked for card company Phoenix Trading for a number of years. When the company closed, Sally still had a strong customer base and friends encouraged her to start her own business.

After beginning by sourcing cards and stationery from trade fairs, Sally’s expanding range of products now includes gifts, cards and wrapping paper – the majority of which are inspired by the countryside she loves.

With a background in farming and a passion for the countryside, as well as a husband who works as a farm labourer, opting for a rural theme for her products seemed like the natural choice.

“I feel passionate about the countryside, farming and rural life and I always think if you believe in something and have a passion for it, you’ll sell it easily,” she explains.

Like many businesses, Sally has had to adapt to a new world since the pandemic. While she previously had regular pop-up shops at shows and fairs, she has now taken her marketing online, embracing social media and finding new ways to interact with customers.

Whilst it has been a steep learning curve, Sally says it is important to make shopping easier for customers who may now be less able to get to the high street, as well as working with younger generations who often prefer to shop online.
