Helping you to bale with confidence

According to PFC, only two baler manufacturers, New Holland and Case IH, offer a precision moisture sensor integrated into the baler’s controls. In answer to this, PFC has produced an integrated option for Massey Ferguson and Fendt and a standalone system for all other baler models and types.

Helping you to bale with confidence

The twin star wheel system offers customers complete confidence the data provided is correct and can bale with confidence. Accuracy is claimed as market-leading at +/-1% with no calibration required. Looking at precision sensors, microwave is also used by some operators. Yes, the accuracy is equal to the twin star wheel, but it requires calibration to crop type and density.

This raises the question of what do you calibrate it against to be confident it is accurate? The twin star wheels function by pulsing a 10V current nine times per second between the two wheels. This measures through the entire profile of the bale picking up a reliable reading for stem and external data. The readings are averaged every three seconds, with a live one-second rolling update on the screen.

The system will provide a live reading and an average for the previous bale. There are different display options including integrated to the baler, Isobus, tablet and phone apps. The simplest moisture sensor is the 2 Series H2O sensor for all balers and functions via an app on Android or Apple devices.

This provides live and average bale data and will operate a wet bale marker to highlight bales with excessive moisture. The 3 and 7 series Moisture Pro can be integrated to the baler or function directly via the tractor’s Isobus or via a tablet the baler’s electronics depending on baler specification. The 3 and 7 series are the base units for the precision applicator system.
