B&W Feeds are looking to hire a mobile mill operator and driver to join its team.
The role will involve you driving a mobile mill lorry unit to farms across south England. You will operate a Buschhoff mill and mix plant, and plant and lorry daily maintenance.
More about the role
- The usual working week is Monday – Friday; occasional Saturday/Bank Holiday work is requested, rewarded by an overtime allowance
- You first target each day will be to arrive on the first farm by 8am each day. You will be expected to complete your scheduled work each day
- Your main depot will be near Blandford Forum, Dorset
- Occasionally you will be required to sleep away overnight in the full sleeper cab of the mill lorry; rewarded by an overnight allowance
- Full terms and contract of employment will be issued on starting.
Your main duties
As main responsibilities of this role, you will be:
- Driving a Buschhoff Mobile Plant lorry unit to farms (GVW 26.0 / 32 tonnes) across South England and occasionally further afield
- Operating and supervising the mill and mix plant safely and effectively to produce a mixed feed to the customers’ required standard, and to B&W Feeds and UFAS requirements
- Handling feed and supplements into the lorry container and into the mixing auger inlet
- Complying with lorry and plant clean-down, maintenance and servicing procedures
- Completing job tickets, delivery tickets and other company documentation
- Carrying out daily maintenance of the plant and lorry and assisting workshop staff when in for service or repair
- Operating and maintaining stores using a forklift; a license will be needed
- Any other duties as requested by B&W Feeds.
How much will I earn?
- Your starting salary will be £12 per hour with an average working week of approximately 50 hours
- You will receive an annual holiday entitlement of 20 days + Bank Holidays, running 1st April-31st March each year.

What qualities will I need?
- Agricultural and/or mechanical experience is preferred but not essential
- A manual driving licence held for at least 8 years (mobile mill vehicles are classified as agricultural vehicles)
- Good numeracy skills required for worksheet calculations
- An initiative to work on your own whilst being a team player
- You will need to have good physical fitness in order to perform the manual work and lifting in this role.
