Cambs-based Harrison Tractors expands into sprayers with Knight franchise

Knight Farm Machinery has appointed Harrison Tractors Ltd to its UK dealer network, with the March-based business set to sell.

Knight Farm Machinery has appointed Harrison Tractors Ltd to its UK dealer network, with the March-based business set to sell.

Founded by James Harrison in 2003, family-run Harrison Tractors Ltd specialises in trading used tractors and equipment.

In 2016, the business expanded into new machinery, becoming a dealer for grass and arable equipment firm Pöttinger UK.

Since then, the company has built up a franchise list that now includes the likes of McConnel, Teagle, S&S Professional Drain Jetters, Göweil and, most recently, Muthing mulching equipment, further extending its line of arable and grassland machinery.

James Harrison explained: “We prefer to be a used tractor specialist and not become involved with a dominant new tractor franchise, but to complement our tractor trade we decided to build a portfolio of new implement franchises in key areas that are in demand by farmers in our region.

“We have been able for a number of years to offer an extensive line of crop establishment machinery, so adding a full range of self-propelled, trailed and mounted sprayers was a natural next step.

“Being less than an hour away on the other side of Peterborough, we knew Knight, and they knew us, so after initial talks, we visited the factory and were very impressed with the product line and quality.”

‘Sales push for new machines and service’

Mr Harrison added that the company-developed technology incorporated into the range, such as the MAXImizer PRO circulation system and Active Rinse PRO fluid control, plus Knight Individual Nozzle Switching (KINS), provides a specification that matches or exceeds anything else on the market.

“It’s great to sign with a local British business that is so well-respected for its quality and technology, particularly as it is also, like ours, family-owned and operated,” he continued.

Paul Harrison, who oversees sales and marketing at Knight Farm Machinery, said that the company is especially pleased to have signed a specialist implement dealer of the calibre of Harrison Tractors.

He added: “The area around this part of northern Cambs and the surrounding counties is an especially important territory for Knight, with some significant arable enterprises.

“Signing Harrison Tractors will give Knight sprayers the sales push for new machines and the service, and spares support for existing ones in the area that the brand and the area’s farmers demand and deserve.”
