Award-winning Wellington boot manufacturer, Leon Boots Co Ltd, has taken the industry by storm since it came to the UK market two years ago, with a unique boot that promises to be lighter, more durable and comfortable. As we settle in for the cold, wet winter months we took a look at these popular boots.

Since discovering a gap in the market for lighter, more durable and comfortable non-safety and safety Wellingtons, Leon Boots has picked up a number of awards – including an Innovation Award at Dairy-Tech earlier this year. The company says it is seeing “unprecedented growth” within the agricultural sector – a market that it is very focused on.

The brand was first established in 2016 from just outside Dublin and was introduced in the UK two years later by UK director Kevin Burgess. Since then it has moved into its own distribution premises based in the South West and ships out many customer orders on a daily basis into different market sectors.

Renowned as a revolutionary alternative to heavy rubber or PVC footwear, Leon Boots’ range of ULTRALight Non-Safety leisure and lifestyle Wellingtons – and also several Protective/Safety Wellingtons – offers a range of advantages over outdated heavy alternatives. This includes the company’s award-winning EVA/TRC polymer S5 that was voted Most Outstanding in Construction footwear at the 2019 Design and Build awards.

“Using a combination of EVA and TRC Polymers, the boots are up to 65 per cent lighter than rubber boots, more durable, supportive and far more comfortable than any other Wellingtons you have worn before,” explains UK director Kevin Burgess.

“They also contain a removable and washable soft liner for comfort, and they are both split- and crack-resistant unlike PVC or PU wellingtons. The boots are a great insulator down to minus 30 degrees, making them a truly unique product.”

Commenting on future plans, the company says it plans to continue expanding to offer total national coverage through stockists across many market sectors. Its overall goal is to provide hardworking people with lighter, safer and more comfortable and durable Wellington boots. Daily comfort, particularly in wet, cold and difficult conditions, is of vital importance for all farmers and farm staff.
