Clarkson’s Farm: Alan Townsend updates fans following heart surgery
10th June 2025
Clarkson’s Farm fans have been worried after hearing that Alan Townsend, who helped Jeremy Clarkson renovate his pub, was set to undergo heart surgery.
Alan Townsend has been appearing throughout the latest season of the farming show, helping Mr Clarkson get The Farmer’s Dog pub ready to welcome customers.
In the final episode of Clarkson’s Farm, the builder told his friends, Mr Clarkson, Lisa Hogan, Kaleb Cooper, Charlie Ireland, Gerald Cooper, and Annie Gray, that he was waiting for heart surgery.
He said: “Quadruple bypass coming.” When asked if he was nervous ahead of the procedure, Mr Townsend said: “Oh, [I’m] frightened to death.
“I don’t even like thinking about it. That’s why I keep going to work — keep out of the way. They told me to really just take it easy and stay at home. But if you stay, you’ll be worrying to death about it.”
‘We’re ending this year with our fingers crossed’
Mr Clarkson reminded everybody that during season three of Clarkson’s Farm, Gerald had been facing health issues.
The show’s much-loved star, Gerald, had been battling prostate cancer and was absent from most episodes as he was attending hospital appointments and going through medical procedures.
During the last episode of the season four, the owner of Diddly Squat Farm said: “You’d gotten yourself better. So we’re ending this year with our fingers crossed”.
“Yeah, well, it should… It’s pretty routine these days, isn’t it?” Mr Townsend added.
Mr Clarkson concluded: “I’ll kill you if you don’t get better.”
