Two people arrested after man was injured by suspected poachers 

Two arrests have been made following an incident in which a man was struck by a vehicle while confronting suspected poachers near Hurstbourne Tarrant, Hampshire Police confirmed.

Officers previously arrested a 37-year-old man from Totton on suspicion of attempted murder. He was recently re-arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice following further evidence coming to light. 

A 60-year-old woman from Totton was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.  

Both have been released on police bail as enquiries continue. 

Officers from Hampshire Police explained that they initially responded to calls of a suspected poaching incident on Netherton Road on Thursday 24th October 2024. 

On arrival, a man in his 50s was found with serious injuries.

Witnesses needed

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said: “It was reported that the man had attempted to confront a group of men he had seen in a field. The men reportedly got into a vehicle, which then struck the victim. The vehicle was then driven from the scene. 

“The man was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries but has since been discharged. 

 “Our investigation continues, and we ask that anyone with information to call 101 with reference 44240464242.”
