Yellow Wellies chairman James Chapman MBE steps down

The chairman of the Farm Safety Foundation (Yellow Wellies), James Chapman MBE, announced that he is hanging up his yellow wellies this month.
James has served on the board of trustees since 2018 and has been the chairman since 2023.
The Yellow Wellies team said that his commitment to the charity’s mission and the communities it serves has left a lasting impact that will continue to inspire the charity for the future.
Stephanie Berkeley, charity manager, added: “James has watched us grow from a charity with one member of staff to a nationally recognised and respected voice of farm safety and mental wellbeing.
“His friendship and contribution and his unique approach have helped shape us over the years, and we are enormously grateful for his service.”
Dr Martin Grantley-Smith has been appointed as the new chair of trustees. The charity team said that Martin brings extensive experience in agricultural leadership, strategic planning and organisational governance.
NFU Mutual’s head of communications and reputation, Jo Lumani, has been appointed as vice-chair of trustees. Jo’s wealth of experience in communications, stakeholder engagement and rural advocacy will further strengthen the charity and advance its work.
Their expertise and vision will be valuable as Yellow Wellies continues to expand activities, providing education, training, resources and support to the farming community, the charity said.
Stephanie Berkeley concluded: “As we welcome Martin and Jo to their new roles, I am excited about the fresh perspectives and leadership they will bring.
“Their commitment to our vision will undoubtedly help us continue to thrive and support the farming community across the UK for years to come.”
