Essex farm celebrates the earliest commercial pumpkin harvest in UK
5th August 2025
Foxes Farm Produce, a family-run farm based in Essex, began picking ripe, orange pumpkins from its fields in July, a full month ahead of the traditional season.

Typically, pumpkins are harvested from September onwards as an iconic autumn crop. However, thanks to early planting and an unusually favourable growing season, Foxes Farm Produce is harvesting full crates of pumpkins well before the summer ends.
The team at Foxes Farm Produce said: “We don’t know of any other UK farms harvesting pumpkins this early—so we might just be the first. It’s incredibly exciting to see the fields full of pumpkins this early.
“It’s never happened before in Foxes Farm Produce’s growing history, and it gives us a great head start for what we expect will be a bumper season.”
This early harvest means pumpkin lovers, retailers, and event organisers can get their hands on the farm’s pumpkins weeks ahead of schedule.
Foxes Farm Produce said it is gearing up to supply a wide range of customers, from local markets to Halloween and autumn festivals across the region.
