Budget day: Farmers try to drive tractors to Whitehall despite ban
26th November 2025
Tractors appeared in Central London this morning ahead of the planned farming rally, despite the ban announced by the Met Police. Farmers Guide is at the scene to bring you the latest updates.

Last night, the Met Police released an official announcement which reads that tractors and other agricultural machinery will not be allowed to access the Whitehall area today, 26th November.
The Met Police posted on X: ‘People will still be able to demonstrate, however, conditions have been put in place to prevent protesters from bringing vehicles, including tractors or other agricultural vehicles, to the protest. This decision was taken due to the serious disruption they may cause to the local area, including businesses, emergency services and Londoners going about their day.’
A spokesperson for the force said that any person taking part in the farmers protest must remain in Richmond Terrace, Whitehall, within the shaded area on the map below.

Arrested and dischrged
Lloyd Baker from Hastings was the first farmer to drive his tractor into Whitehall this morning. He was quickly approached by police officers, who ordered him to leave or face having his vehicle impounded. He may attend the rally, but only on foot.
Another farmer was reportedly arrested and later released for driving his tractor in defiance of the ban.

Farmer and YouTuber Olly Harrison was also among the first to arrive in central London this morning.
As of 7:50am, the Met Police have closed the road leading to Whitehall. Trafalgar Square is now blocked.
Today’s Budget announcement could reshape the future of farming. We’ll be in Westminster, reporting live with the latest updates for the farming community.
