Farmers gather in London ahead of Spring Statement
3rd March 2026
British farmers are gathering in London today ahead of the government’s Spring Statement announcement.

During the Spring Statement, chancellor Rachel Reeves will provide an update on her plans for the national economy.
Estimates for growth, inflation, unemployment, government spending and tax income over the next few years will also be revealed.
British farmers drove their tractors to London today to highlight the importance of the national food security.

One of the farmers said: “British farming and food security must be centre stage in Westminster – especially in these uncertain times. Food security is in jeopardy; therefore, so is national security.”
The demonstration is also a reminder that 6th April, when the changes to APR and BRP (agricultural property relief and business property relief) will be introduced, is only six weeks away.
