19th November 2025
A cow and a slurry tanker made an unexpected appearance in Central London yesterday, as British farmers gathered to mark the anniversary of last year’s major farming rally.

Farmer and YouTuber Olly Harrison recently announced on his social media that farmers were set to gather at Whitehall on Tuesday 18th November to mark the event’s anniversary.
He then said: “As you know, last November we were in London, 45,000 of us, including Jeremy Clarkson as well, in Whitehall. We are there a year to the day to mark the anniversary and say you still need to start listening. Agriculture is still being damaged by this policy.”
Yesterday’s gathering was attended by farmers, members of the public and MPs. A slurry tanker and a cow also joined the demonstration, creating an unusually striking scene in Central London.

‘Stop Labour’s reckless inheritance tax reforms’
Carla Lockhart, MP for Upper Bann, attended the meeting and also coordinated the delivery of a robust letter to HM Treasury, supported by 25 farmers from across Northern Ireland who travelled to London with the Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU).

She said: “Together we sent a clear message to the chancellor: stop Labour’s reckless inheritance tax reforms.
“The proposed changes to APR are a direct attack on family farms, a tax on tragedy that will devastate generational farms, destroy rural jobs, hit our local economy and undermine UK food security.
“For a year, farming families have lived under the shadow of these plans. I’ve stood with them every step of the way, protesting, lobbying and challenging this government at every opportunity. Labour has ignored every warning, but the farming community will not be silenced.
“Our message is united and unwavering: stop the family farm tax. This fight is far from over.”

Alistair Carmichael, MP for Orkney and Shetland, who also took part in the action, added: “It is not every day that you come across cattle in Central London! Delighted to meet with farmers outside Parliament today and to talk about their concerns about government plans on inheritance tax and more.”
