British Food Fortnight 2025 puts local produce in spotlight
26th September 2025
British Food Fortnight, a nationwide celebration, launches today to showcase the diversity and quality of locally produced British food.

British Food Fortnight 2025 takes place between 26th September and 12th October 2025.
“British Food Fortnight 2025 will be bigger than ever, with more celebrations taking place in communities and organisations throughout the UK,” the organiser, Love British Food, promises.
A big number of activities is set to take place in communities across the country during the event this autumn, including menu promotions in pubs, restaurants and major food service venues.
Love British Food said that this fortnight’s official partner, Morrisons, will be celebrating the best of autumn’s British produce, meat and fish on its Market Street.
In addition, the community champions, based in all their supermarkets, will work closely with the communities surrounding each store, rewarding local groups who focus on increasing access to fresh, seasonal British food.
Students will take part in fun activities, foodie lessons and special menus in hundreds of schools.
NHS Trusts are also organising British Food Fortnight menus in hospitals across the country, with NHS catering managers celebrating British produce on patient menus and in staff restaurants.
British Food Fortnight also includes promotions, meet-the-producer events and tastings in shops and markets. Look out for seasonal British food in the major supermarkets.
The organiser added: “Communities are coming together to celebrate the food produced on their doorstep during British Food Fortnight. Villages, market towns and large cities are marking the national food celebrations.
“British Food Fortnight takes place at the traditional time for celebrating the harvest, so it is a time-worn tradition for communities to come together.
“Wonderfully joyful food festivals giving people the opportunity to meet some of Britain’s very best producers. From the Thame Food Festival in Oxfordshire to the Ginger and Spice Festival in Shropshire to the Abergavenny Food Festival in Wales, there are fabulous events for all the family to enjoy.”
Chefs and caterers across the UK have also been invited to enter the Great British Pie Challenge, creating a pie using British ingredients and adding it to their menus during the fortnight.
Chef and restaurateur Phil Howard is leading the judging panel and looking for entries to include a story behind the pie or ingredients used, e.g., history, heritage or provenance.
