Innovation meets sustainability

When Beech Farm in Lincolnshire wanted a full turnkey solution for a six-house broiler project, they turned to Clarke Group, which they had worked with on previous projects.

Since becoming operational, Beech Farm has delivered outstanding results.

The project, which took just under a year to complete, focused on maximising sustainability and enhancing biosecurity.

Key technologies incorporated included heat exchangers, underfloor heating, ground source heat pumps, a 1,000kW PV system, 904kW battery backup storage, and rainwater harvesting – all designed to reduce the farm’s carbon footprint while improving efficiency.

A central 20ft-wide corridor links all six poultry houses, housing the farm manager’s office, toilets, showers, and a canteen.

Staff enter the bio-secure area after showering and changing into laundered clothing, eliminating the need to leave the secure zone during working hours.

Viewing windows into each house allow visual inspection from the corridor, dramatically reducing the risk of avian influenza and other pathogens entering the bird area.

Since becoming operational, Beech Farm has delivered outstanding results. Commenting on the project, Beech Farm said: “We are both delighted with Beech Farm and proud of the investment. The quality of work delivered by Clarke Group was excellent, with superb attention to detail by the team during construction. The project was also delivered on time.”
