New minty fresh addition to disinfectant brand’s teat dip range

Following requests from customers, Evans Vanodine has launched a new teat dip, spray, and foam, Masomint, which is formulated with a mint fragrance.

Dairy cattle

Evans Vanodine recognises that teat skin is a vulnerable part of the dairy cow, so with its soothing and calming effect, mint can help with good udder health. To further improve teat condition, which is essential to minimise bacteria growth, the addition of high levels of glycerol to smooth and soften the skin are an important part of the formulation.

Masomint

Masomint has excellent bactericidal action due to the presence of chlorhexidine gluconate and lactic acid, the company says. It passes EN 1656, killing 99.999% of mastitis causing bacteria which helps to maintain good udder health and productivity. This is a crucial element in any teat disinfectant and conditioner. It also passes EN 1657, which means that it is proven to kill 99.99% of yeasts, Evans added.

Masomint

The company says it knows farmers find it helpful to be able to see easily which cows have been effectively dipped or sprayed during the post-milking process. Masomint has been formulated with a highly visible dark blue colour, so it is easy to see when applied to the cows’ teats. The product is also suitable for use in robotic milking plants.

Masomint was recently launched at Dairy Tech and animal health & agriculture sales manager, Nick Evans, talked to Dairy Tech TV to explain Evans’ strategy of working with dairy farmers to protect their livestock from disease and mastitis causing bacteria.

A family business for over 100 years

For over 100 years, Evans Vanodine has been in the development and manufacture of science-led disinfectant and hygiene products for animal health and food processing. The company is still 100% owned and run by the Evans family.

Evans’ goal is to produce high quality products to increase farm profitability and efficiency by improving animal health and food quality. The product range includes Biocidal (BPR) regulated, Veterinary Medicine (VMD) and Defra approved products, all of which are manufactured at their production facility in Lancashire, UK. All products are developed to contain complex formulations to ensure optimal hygiene and performance. All disinfectants must pass rigorous testing requirements against a range of bacteria, fungi, and viruses.

The company has built a reputation on innovation and commitment to research and development, with in-house microbiologists and chemists enabling them to deliver quality and consistency at every stage of production. The microbiology laboratory holds a UKAS accreditation for the testing of disinfectants, ensuring products are fit for purpose and that disinfectant claims are substantiated by BS EN test methods.

In addition to a range of products, a variety of training and technical manuals are also provided, with a technical team and sales managers on hand to share information and technical expertise with distributors and customers.
