Farmers encouraged to get involved in Great British Beef Week celebration

Great British Beef Week has returned for the 14th time to celebrate the versatility and exceptional taste of naturally delicious British beef. The NFU is encouraging farmers to make the most of the week-long campaign.

The NFU is encouraging British farmers to make the most of the Great British Beef Week campaign launched by Ladies in Beef.

The Great British Beef Week was founded by Ladies in Beef (LiB) to promote versatile meat, which is often the centre piece of Sunday lunch, barbeques or special occasions.

Launched on St George’s Day, 23rd April 2024, the week aims to promote great British beef and the high standards to which it is produced.

The key message of the campaign this year centres around Britain’s maritime climate, which delivers frequent rainfall, producing an abundance of green grass and, in turn, naturally delicious beef.

Proud to be beef farmer

NFU livestock board chair David Barton.

NFU livestock board chair David Barton is encouraging fellow beef farmers to get involved in the campaign.

He said: “We have a great story to tell about producing delicious British beef. Our cows graze on pastures that are habitats for wildlife and shape our landscape.

“I’m proud to be a beef farmer, and I’m proud of the high-quality product that we produce.

“Beef farmers across the country produce beef to the highest welfare and environmentally sustainable standards, and Great British Beef Week gives us an opportunity to celebrate British beef and work with retailers and chefs to promote it.”

Get involved by using the hashtags #GBBW24 and #GreatBritishBeefWeek24 on your social media posts, saying why you are proud to produce British beef.
