A statement on the company’s website reads that Chafer Machinery is currently seeking professional financial advice over the future of the business.

‘Whilst we undertake this process, we would request customers and suppliers with urgent queries please contact Leonard Curtis on 0114 285 9500.

‘The business is being prepared for sale, if you have an interest in acquiring the whole or part of Chafer Machinery, please register your interest by emailing carol.allen@bpiaa.com and luke@bpiaa.com

‘Unfortunately during this time the factory will be closed, with no parts or technical support available. Please contact to your local Chafer/Horstine Dealer regarding support during this time.’

Chafer & Horstine, which history goes back to 1901, designs and manufactures crop sprayers, applicators and de-icers from its base at North Lincolnshire.

Chafer Machinery and Leonard Curtis have been approached for a comment.
