Truck send-off planned for teen who lost his life in farm accident
7th January 2026
A convoy of trucks will pay tribute to a 14-year-old boy who tragically died in an accident on a farm in County Durham.

Aaron Anderson sustained life-threatening injuries on 21st December, after a John Deere Gator overturned at a farm in Burnopfield.
He was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in Newcastle, for treatment. Sadly, he died on Boxing Day from his injuries.
Aaron’s heartbroken family paid a touching tribute to the teenager, describing him as a “cheeky chappie who was always smiling and would never fail to brighten up your day”.
“He was a much-loved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him,” they said.
His family said that Aaron was always happiest working on farms and fixing trucks. Even at the age of 14, he had an amazing work ethic and already had two apprenticeship offers.
Truck send-off
Aaron’s parents added: “Although we are saddened about the life he will never have, we are so thankful for the life he has lived and will cherish all the happy memories he left us with.
“Our thoughts and well wishes are also with everyone else affected by this tragic incident. We would now ask to be left in peace to grieve the loss of our son.”
A 13-year-old boy also sustained serious injuries during the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment. He has since been released and is recovering at home.
Aaron’s love for trucks will be remembered during his funeral, which will be held at Mounsett Crematorium, in Dipton, near Stanley, at 12.30pm on Friday, 16th January.
The organisers of The Truck Show at Barnard Castle, which was loved by Aaron, are asking drivers to join a convoy of vehicles that will accompany him to the crematorium next week.
Truckers are set to meet at Hownsgill Industrial Estate in Consett at 10.30am so they can follow the funeral cars. Drivers are also asked to put brightly coloured ribbons and bows on their trucks if possible.
An online fundraiser has also been launched to help cover the costs of Aaron’s funeral. Donate here.
The thoughts of the Farmers Guide team are with the Family during this difficult time and their continuing hardships.
