Suffolk’s agricultural chaplain resigns to lead new farming initiative
22nd January 2026
Graham Miles, Suffolk’s agricultural chaplain for the past six years, has resigned with immediate effect. He will now focus on leading a new farming organisation.

Mr Miles said that as the agricultural chaplain, he received many calls from farmers from all over the UK wanting to talk to him about their problems and concerns regarding the current state of farming, especially with the recent changes proposed by the Labour government concerning the IHT.
A small U-turn has been made on this; however, Mr Miles said it is “too little too late”. He attended meetings with DEFRA and other government organisations to discuss a rethink on the legislations.
His previous position as agricultural chaplain for Suffolk restricted him to only working with farmers in Suffolk, and Mr Miles said that he wanted to be available to farmers in all areas of the UK to give them support and an ear to listen to their problems.
Farmers Support UK
Mr Miles said: “It was suggested by some local farmers and landowners that a new organisation should be formed with the proposed name of Farmers Support UK, with me heading it.
“This will enable me to continue my passion for helping and reaching out to farmers and those associated with agriculture in all areas of the UK who can contact me 24/7 365 days a year.”
Mr Miles explained that his new role will be on a voluntary basis with expenses only being paid, so it is hoped that local businesses will support the newly formed farming organisation.
Farmers Support UK is intended to have charitable status, with the aim to help farmers across the UK who have anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, or health and wellbeing problems, with pastoral care also available, or just to have a chat.
The contact telephone for Mr Miles will remain the same as his current number, 07413 683368, via email or on Facebook.
