More than 4,000 farmers have accepted a further year’s extension on Countryside Stewardship Mid Tier agreements – equating to just under £59 million.

Speaking at the Oxford Farming Conference today, environment secretary Emma Reynolds announced reforms to the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI), which are aimed at simplifying the scheme, levelling the playing field, and providing stable, predictable delivery.    

Farming minister Dame Angela Eagle has announced the launch of a new round of the Accelerating Development of Practices and Technologies (ADOPT) funding.

The Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) scheme offers grants to those who are willing to adopt its rules for three years. Among the rules are strict restrictions on the use of chemical insecticides, seed dressings, nematicides, acaricides and silica insecticides. However, this has caused some confusion with farms using silicon biostimulants.

The UK government has announced a one-year extension to the Countryside Stewardship Mid Tier (CS MT) scheme, which was set to expire at the end of this year. 

Farm machinery manufacturer Claydon has reminded farmers and contractors that those whose applications for a Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) 2025 grant were approved must accept offers by 11th November 2025 or risk losing them.  

The Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier (CSHT) scheme has launched through a controlled rollout and is available for eligible farmers, foresters and land managers who have received pre-application advice and completed any necessary preparatory works.
