Located within the National Trust’s picturesque Wallington Estate in Northumberland, Gallows Hill Farm spans 137 hectares and offers a unique opportunity for an ambitious farmer or farming couple to establish and run their own business.

The selection process for the new tenant will be filmed over a period of three weeks by Big Circus Media, the makers of Matt Baker: Our Farm in the Dales. Filming will take place in March 2023, and the new eight-part series will air on More4.

Applications are still open for ambitious individuals/couples/business partners with ideas and enthusiasm for turning the vacant farm into a thriving business. The tenancy is set to commence in May next year, and those interested have until 23:59 on 30th October to get in touch.

The successful applicants will be required to present their business plans and complete a series of real-world tasks on camera. These will aim to reveal the contestants’ agricultural abilities and approaches to environmental farming and renovation.

Each episode of the series will feature farmers taking on one or more tasks before the decision is made as to who will progress to the next stage. Many of the tasks will focus on improving the land or buildings on the farm, and some will take place on other farms in the local area.

Assessment will be carried out by representatives of the National Trust, with the winner invited to take on a 10-year tenancy of Gallows Hill Farm.

Channel 4 is keen to hear from farmers or aspiring farmers who believe they have what it takes to develop a viable and sustainable farming business and would like to take on this ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ farming opportunity.
