Magnus, who is a member of Chase Young Farmers’ Club (YFC) in Staffordshire, received the Young Farmer of the Year Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to British agriculture and his advocacy for young people in the industry.

The judging panel included TV presenter and farmer Adam Henson, vice president of the NFU David Exwood and NFYFC’s vice chair of council Alex McMenemy.

Judges praised Magnus for his “confidence and passion for agriculture”. Farmer and TV personality Adam Henson said: “It was a tough competition, and Magnus stood out because of his communication skills and particularly his positive attitude to improving and developing the culture of British farming. Congratulations.”

‘Young Farmers is a place for everyone’

Magnus grew up on his family’s dairy farm and has become a passionate voice for farming, sustainability, and mental health. His work spans traditional farming, education, and policy advocacy.

As an NFU student and Young Farmer Ambassador, he has spoken on key issues such as inheritance tax reform, farm safety, and the importance of mental health support in rural communities.

Magnus said: “It feels really amazing to have won. It just shows what people can do with their voice in Young Farmers [YFC]. It doesn’t matter where you come from or what background you have or how you’re involved in farming or not at all – it just shows that Young Farmers is a place for everyone, and you can really have a voice if you want to share it.

“I think it’s important to get out and about and use your voice to help others. I really care about the issues that face young people in agriculture, and I’m not afraid to express my opinions and get them out to a national stage.”

Magnus uses social media to promote British farming and connect with wider audiences and has recently finished studying at university in Birmingham and started work as an agricultural solicitor. He is also participating in the Tesco Future Farmer Programme at Harper Adams University.

The awards are hosted by the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (NFYFC) and sponsored by CFMOTO UK. Nominations for the YFC Achiever Awards 2026 will be open to YFC members and supporters again next year.
