‘Next gen’ fire extinguisher offers substantial savings

Fire is one of the biggest threats to farmers’ lives and property and dry summer weather only heightens the risk. Cherry Products’ high performance fire extinguishers offer greater peace of mind and even save time and money on servicing costs.

The P50 composite fire extinguisher from Cherry Products has taken the industry by storm, saving most customers 47 per cent over the 10- year warranty period. Servicing can be done via a simple in-house visual inspection, saving time and money year on year, the company says.

All P50 extinguishers meet the highest legal and safety standards and are fully compliant with British standard EN3, BSI. They are also CE marked and endorsed by Apragaz, certifying them to be used on electrical fires up to 1,000V at 1m, liquids and combustible materials.

In most situations, current inventory can be reduced when replaced with P50 extinguishers, eliminating the need for two types of extinguishers – especially inside buildings.

Electrical faults are the most common cause of farm fires, according to NFU Mutual figures. The cost of farm fires reached £46.4 million in 2018 – a rise of nearly 30 per cent, which is why it is essential to have the most appropriate equipment to hand. High performance foam and pulse technology means Cherry’s

P50 extinguishers can be used on electrical fires as well as Class A fires (combustible-fuelled fires – wood, paper, cloth, rubber and many plastics) and Class B fires (flammable liquid or flammable gas fuelled).

The extinguishers can also reach up to 3.4m, compared to 1.3m for those using standard foam. They are made from Kevlar Aramid type woven core, UV protective casing and marine grade anti-corrosive components.

There are also environmental benefits, as the foam is watercourse safe and biodegradable and manufacture is low energy. Combined with the 20-year life cycle, no service parts, fewer refills and 100 per cent recyclability, it is a green option compared to traditional equipment, Cherry reckons.

Clients who purchase extinguishers from Cherry Products Ltd also have the added benefit of the online management program, allowing simple record keeping. The program has large capabilities and can handle multiple sites and users; even vehicles can be registered with drivers. There are also helpful training tutorials for servicing and using the management program.
