A keen runner is supporting The Farming Community Network (FCN) charity and raising awareness of mental health in agriculture by competing in this year’s London Marathon

A new short film, aimed at raising the feel-good factor amongst Scotland’s farmers, has launched on social media this week. The film, “We all need a farmer”, is the work of award-winning Director, Jason Connery, and narrated by renowned Scottish actor Ian Pirie.

Organic farmer and Instagram influencer Ben Theo Andrews says he wants to “give people hope that they can live their totally open and authentic selves in the agriculture industry”.

“Unearthing Farming Lives” is a new film examining some of the most common causes of mental health problems, as well as their potential solutions, within the farming and wider agricultural community.

Professionals from the extended farming community have been supporting YANA, the charity dedicated to rural mental health support, helping to combat the additional stresses that the past year has brought to the rural community.

Responding to the increasing demand from farming people, RABI is extending its freephone helpline this autumn, to provide the farming community with a 24-hour service.

A national remembrance service led by The Farming Community Network (FCN) charity will provide an opportunity to remember those who have died in farming communities.

With Mental Health Awareness Week 2021 currently underway, RABI is asking the farming community to try to find time to take five minutes to reach out to five friends and check how they’re getting on.
