Aikengall Farm: Inheriting the family farm

As part of their work to contribute to farmers’ efforts in showcasing British agriculture, A-Plan Rural Insurance has set up a rural community blog where they invite farmers to give their experiences in the industry.

In their latest blog, A-Plan Rural Insurance spoke with James and Harry at Aikengall Farm, a Scottish beef and sheep farm based in the Lammermuir Hills. The team are seventh generation farmers, whose routes in agriculture began in 1864. Aikengall Farm are a passionate team that care about the continuation of their family business, and shared some insights into their personal journeys in farming and inheriting the family farm earlier than expected as a result of a family loss. A-Plan asked the team some questions around their life as farmers, their future plans for their livestock and advice they could offer aspiring farmers.
