Reviewing the top 10 exhibitors at LAMMA 2024

1. BAB Distribution

The tyre distributor and dealer promoted its range of Indian-manufactured Ascenso tyres, for which it is the official UK importer. Ascenso is a relatively new brand, introduced by BAB Distribution to its UK customers for the first time at LAMMA in 2022.

Ascenso is one of very few tyre manufacturers making its own tyre moulds, which helps achieve short lead times between identifying the need for a new tyre and commercial production.

“Ascenso tyres remain competitively priced, although build quality and performance is proving equivalent to or better than other leading premium brands,” director, Tom Bush told Farmers Guide. “Ascenso offers a reassuring seven-year warranty on its agricultural radial tyres and five years on bias ply tyres, although the number of faults reported have been minimal.”

2. Martin Lishman

Martin Lishman returned to LAMMA for another year, bringing a showcase of its grain quality and crop storage equipment. Its stand presented a “one-stop shop” for preparing your store for the upcoming season. Martin Lishman’s compact sprayer range, potato quality equipment and a brand-new line-up of soil testing products was also on display.

Established in 1975, Martin Lishman specialises in crop storage and monitoring, potato quality, soil testing equipment and compact spraying systems. Martin Lishman innovations use low-cost digital technologies to tackle the global challenge of minimising post-harvest food waste and energy consumption.

3. Manitou Group

Manitou Group returned to LAMMA with both Manitou and GEHL brands featuring new and existing products. A preview of a brand-new all-electric MLT 625 telehandler stole the show; its lithium ion batteries and fully integrated chargers make this machine a future reality on farms.

Through its two iconic brands, Manitou and Gehl, Manitou Group develops, manufactures, and provides equipment and services of handling, access platforms and earthmoving for the construction, agriculture and industrial markets.

4. Wox Agri Services

We spoke to Wox Agri Services managing director, Geoffrey Wox on his stand. “Our team enjoyed a very busy show, dealing with enquiries across our product range,” he explained.

The Scorpion front reeler was displayed for the first time. “Development took almost three years, and the result is a durable and reliable reeler with no drive chains or sprockets, that can be picked up or dropped from the carrier frame without the operator leaving the tractor cab,” said Geoffrey. “Hydraulic rams open and close the carrying arms, and a patented locking pin engages the reeler’s planetary drive.”

The Scorpion is available in only one size currently, 3m wide allowing ease of transport by road, and with capacity for 1,000m of 6in pipe. The price is £16,986.

5. Merlo

Merlo used LAMMA 2024 to showcase its innovative technology in the design of tracked carriers, forestry tractors and, in particular, telescopic handlers. Most impressively, the fully electric e-worker on display was drivable from the attached basket.

Continued investments in the UK include a fully stocked Merlo parts warehouse offering next day parts delivery to the Merlo dealer network. Merlo leads the market in telehandler innovations with almost 60 years of experience in manufacturing agricultural and construction machinery.

Merlo UK Ltd is the wholly owned subsidiary of Merlo Group, Italy, supplying the Merlo dealer network and its British customers with telescopic handlers since 1993.

6. Iseki

Iseki proudly displayed its TG tractor range to the throngs of LAMMA 2024 attendees.

Ideal for high specification aeration and turf maintenance on sports pitches, the TG is the most advanced tractor in the ISEKI range with 40-67hp engines.  Compact in size with all the accessories and options of the higher specification agricultural tractors, the TG can also be used in farming for easy access to cowsheds and farms where space is limited. The technology allows for easy operation and less fatigue on the driver.

For more information, visit the Iseki website.

7. Agri Industry Solutions

Agri Industry Solutions (AIS) had a great stand location at LAMMA 2024. Top-end forage and feeding equipment from Schuitemaker, and slurry transport and injection machinery from Veenhuis was displayed.

AIS is the UK importer for the SV Group (Veenhuis and Schuitemaker Brands) as well as Perard agricultural equipment. The Suffolk-based business started importing Veenhuis products approximately five years ago; adding Schuitemaker when the companies merged last year.

“Veenhuis has its own nutrient sensing system that monitors slurry constituents in real-time,” explained director Tim Merrell. “It’s a popular option, allowing users to make best use of slurry while also recording exactly what is applied and we believe that demand for the system will grow.”

8. Avon Tuning

The Avon Tuning team made it to LAMMA in good numbers from its base in Tockington, South Gloucester. The company has a large network of over 150 authorised agricultural agents who install the remaps on-farm across the country.

Avon Tuning HD specialises in professional ECU remapping for agricultural machinery to increase performance and working efficiency. The company professionally edits the ECU at source, which offers greater control and safety when remapping, and the health of machines is tested before any changes are installed.

As well as remapping, Avon Tuning HD is also the sole UK importer and distributor for Italian-built Dimsport dynamometers. The range of workshop and mobile ‘dynos’ enables machinery dealers and agricultural mechanics to perform power and efficiency output tests for a range of purposes including pre-delivery inspection (PDI) or diagnostics.

For more information, visit the Avon Tuning website.

9. Bauer

Bauer proved a popular stand to visit over both show days. Its top-spec separator manages a dry matter content of 34% in the right circumstances.

Bauer irrigation systems supply water to fields all over the planet totalling 2.5 million hectares. 60,000 slurry tankers and an untold number of separators, pumps and stirrers are in use worldwide today. Over 650 employees at 16 locations around the world pursue the Bauer mission of building machines to last.

10. Goldingham Contracts – Hall 7, Stand 440

Managing director Charles Goldingham addressed how his ventilation systems could significantly reduce the cost for farmers of cooling their grain stores.

Goldingham Contracts, established in 1991, is based on the edge of the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire. Its main areas of service and expertise are Mobile Seed Processing for Farmers, Pest Control, Farm Assurance Supplies and Environmental Protection Services including Biofuels Initiatives.

Who makes Ascenso Tyres?

Unlike many tyre brands, Ascenso is it’s own brand making their own tyres in their manufacturing plant just outside the city of Bharuch in the region of Gujarat, India. Ascenso are one of the few tyre companies that actually design and make their own tyre moulds. This rapidly speeds up their size expansion project.

What’s the warranty on Ascenso tyres?

Ascenso Farm radial tyres come with a 7-year manufacturer warranty and Ascenso Bias tyres come with a 5-year warranty. The warranty covers tyre failure due to manufacturing faults.

What is the Mud breaker Technology?

The mud breaker and the dual mud breaker ensure better self-cleaning and maximum traction. During the process of movement, vertical cleats on the lugs will behave like a lever to push the mud away and create an air channel to break the vacuum which helps in self-cleaning characteristics.

What range of tyres do Ascenso offer?

Ascenso offer an extensive and still growing range of tyres, including:

  • Tractor radial tyres, including 85 series, 70 series, 65 series, Rowcrop tyres and VF technology.
  • Tractor Crossply tyres
  • Implement tyres
  • Trailer Flotation tyres
  • Plant and Industrial tyres
  • Earthmover tyres
  • Material Handling tyres, including forklift and port tyres
  • Forestry tyres
What are Ascenso Tyres like to fit?

Ascenso tyres are easy to fit with tyre fitters commenting on how nice they are to work with. Due to the sturdy side walls fitting is made easy. The tyres also inflate really well, even the 18 inch trailer tyres.
